Chelan County Sheriff’s deputies will be out targeting stand up paddle boarders on Chelan County waters over Labor Day weekend as part of a statewide effort. The goal is to educate people about laws and safe practices. Law states that everyone 13 and over must carry an appropriate life jacket, 12 and under must be wearing it. You must carry a sounding device(a horn, whistle or bell) and a white navigation light must be on board for times of low visibility. Marine Patrol Deputy Ryan Moody says, “Water and weather conditions can change rapidly”.   Getting separated from your paddleboard without a life jacket can easily leave you in a life or death situation.”
