Fish and Game are patrolling the lake and handing out tickets, make sure you have all your safety gear and that you fish according to the regulations. In particular make sure you release easy fish with a hole punch in their tail. A neighbor missed seeing the hole, received a ticket and had to hand over the fish… Don’t land Bull trout, release in the water.

Here at Lake Wenatchee Info world headquarters we know how truly unpopular wandering dock postings are for our readers that don’t have docks. So with the spring melt about to hit, would all the dock owners in our readership please go make sure the chains are connected to something substantial. I would also recommend checking the hinge pins* retainer clips, I found one clip had broken over the winter and a hinge pin was hanging half way out getting ready to explore the bottom of the lake.

Eastern Promises O Brother, Where Art Thou? film La linea trailer

The annual paddle boat migration will commence next Wed by the prediction of the river level at Peshastin. The River Levels link
A Fish Called Wanda dvdrip

in the upper left sidebar will show you the most current status of water height as water leaves the lake and the always interesting prediction for Peshatin. Having watched the river for a decade or so now, we rarely reach the Peshastin height during spring melt. But the lake and river level will go up substantially right on schedule for Memorial Day.

.!.

Here is the first of two important updates on the fiber system. The first is from Mark Sullivan of LocalTel with some advice to all potential subscribers on confirming your service order and the second from Chelan PUD Commissioner Werner Janssen:

From Local Tel:

We currently have about 119 fully completed orders from Lake Wenatchee/Plain area and about over 100 more leads through the PUD Portal. To be efficient and thorough, we could use some help getting additional information out. Below is a list of the fiber zones and preliminary turn on schedule.

All zones will be lit in September, the snow usually flies in Late October, there is a small window of opportunity to get as many customers turned up as possible. Customers with overhead power will be installed first, followed by customers with underground communication conduit, and then customers with power conduit if there is still time before the snow flies. Customers with direct bury power or that need trenching or boaring may have to wait until spring to get Fiber.

What do you need to do?

1. If residents have completed an on-line Sign-up through the LocalTel Web-site or have filled out LocalTel Paperwork and sent it back to or dropped it off at LocalTel, everything should be ready to go.

2. If residents have only competed a Preliminary Sign-up through LocalTel or the PUD we will need more information so please complete this form: https://www.localtelonline.com/signups

Upon completing the sign up you will receive a confirmation number.

If you aren’t sure what you need to please email: Tracey Yednek

The sooner the order has been verified and placed the more likely you can get service before the snow flies.

3. If a resident hasn’t signed up at all yet, please use this link to sign up as soon as possible. https://www.localtelonline.com/signups

4. Because the of the Small Window of time between September 1 and the first snowfall, we need to get as many people signed up as soon as possible. If we call you, please call back right away and give us as many ways to contact you as possible. The PUD is willing to add additional Installers if they can be efficient with the installations. That would mean being able to do a whole neighborhood at the same time. So neighborhoods with the densest number of sign-ups with scheduled installations will most likely be prioritized by the PUD. Also, customers being flexible and readily available at their home for the installation will help a great deal as well.

Mark Sullivan
LocalTel Communications
341 Grant Road
East Wenatchee, WA 98802
Office 509-888-9163
email: marks@localtel.net

Fiber Turn Up Schedule:

The PUD is planning to light 5 towers (zones) in your area beginning the September 1.
They are in order of the turn-up dates: (some of these premises may be empty lots)

1st: FDT 148 Sugart Flats Area (268 Premises)
Major Roads: Alder Ln., Allen Rd., Cedar Crest, Cottonwood Ln., Kinnikinnick Dr., Larch Dr., Sugart Flats Road, Sumac Lane., Wenatchee Pines

This is the latest update from John Smith concerning the fiber build out in the Lake Wenatchee-Plain area. Progress is being made.

Let me know if I can supply any additional information for you.

wcjanssen@charter.net

433-1247

1. A new fiber equipment shelter (node) has been set outside the Lake Wenatchee Substation which contains equipment that will ultimately light all FDTs in the Plain/Lake Wenatchee area. We expect to have power to it by this week at which time we’ll be able to burn in all equipment and start testing.

2. The extension of the fiber backbone from Leavenworth is around 95% complete. We were slightly delayed in getting railroad crossing permits, but all necessary permits are now in hand and the remaining work is progressing. Splicing will start this week and should take around 14 days to complete.

3. The last portion of the backbone extension near the Lake Wenatchee end required installation of 17,000 feet of underground conduit along Beaver Valley Road. The conduit system has been installed and the cable is being tested at this time.

4. We hope to have everything in place to light the node by mid August.

5. Construction of the following FDTs is substantially complete, except for underground segments: 148, 166, 169, 149, and 181 (see attached map for details). We plan to light them roughly in that order once the node is activated. The first FDT should be ready by the beginning of September with the remaining following at approximately one-week intervals. Customer with overhead drops can expect services shortly after the FDT area they live in is lit. Those end users that require trenching and conduit placement might not receive services until these additional facilities are constructed.

We will also be issuing a countywide update in the next few weeks. Let me know if you have any additional questions.

Thanks,

Click on the build out map to see in more detail:

From the notes that accompanied the electronic documents, bold emphasis added:

The Utility Services Engineering and Technology staff has put together a set of documents that should help answer fiber build related questions received from the public. The first document is a summary of the build zones and expected completion dates. The remaining documents are the actual maps of each zone with color coded areas designating the build areas, these will match the summary page. The maps can also be zoomed to get more detail on the boundaries of a specific zone. All documents can be printed for reference but remember these will be updated on a quarterly basis. We hope this will assist each of you in answering many of the questions you receive from the public.

We had a welcome surprise last Friday when a PUD fiber representative was on our road looking at the areas to be served. In his words the service will be coming to the whole area next summer. The service will be provided to subscribers through several companies- all using the PUD distribution system. Contact information and the services each company provides can be accessed via the link below. Which carrier you choose is up to you. The one I chose and recommend is Local Tel Local Tel Signup Form (detailed instructions below). LocalTel have been my internet provider for years, they offer the full line of service options, have always been very responsive to problems and this company has been very supportive of and helpful to our email group effort to keep people informed of what’s going on here at Lake Wenatchee.

WHICHEVER PROVIDER YOU USE IT IS VERY IMPORTANT THAT YOU CONTACT THEM IMMEDIATELY AND PLACE YOUR PRELIMINARY SUBSCRIPTION TO THIS SERVICE. It is important that you do to do this soon because when the PUD starts actually running cable they will look at the number of customers already subscribed in determining in what order your street will be served. Those plans are being made now. Subscribing at this point is not a commitment- you will have the option of actually taking the service or not at a later time.

PUD Provider List:

A complete list of all the providers on the PUD network can be found here: PUD Service Providers

Local Tel Sign UP Instructions:

Local Tel has just made available a simplified online process to subscribe to this service. Even if you have previously subscribed, I encourage to do it again by using this simplified process- there is no problem with duplication. It takes about 30 seconds. To use it click on the link below and complete the basic information required. The address you will want to use is the address where the service will be used- not your billing address. In the field for your name, use the first block on that line for your first name and the second block for your last name. Everything else is very straightforward. You will also see there the monthly rates for the various subscription plans and you will be asked to select one of those. We have chosen the Triple Play with some additional television channels, telephone and high speed internet for $91 a month but again that choice can be altered if and when you actually get the service. Once completed and submitted you will receive a confirmation/tracking number of your subscription. The link to that Local Tel subscription page: Local Tel Signup Form

Background on Local Fiber:

Many of you are aware of the effort that was made in recent years to encourage the Chelan County PUD to expand fiber-optic broadband service to the Lake Wenatchee/Plain area. That effort was successful- in June 2007 the PUD board voted to continue the fiber build-out and directed that the expansion prioritize rural areas of the county where other providers have not brought the service and specifically designated the Lake Wenatchee/Plain area, the Entiat Valley and Blewett Pass. We are excited about this because the service will bring us telephone, cable television and high speed internet in a bundled service package at significantly less cost than we are paying for those services separately at this time.

The meeting will takeplace at 6:30 PM Thursday, May 17th, at the Lake Wenatchee Rec Club at the airstrip, 14400 Chiwawa Loop Road.

Please try to attend if you can- this proposal has a worthy goal but has many people concerned also for the impact on the River and Nason Creek.

Good evening-
The PUD commissioners held a meeting today to discuss and hear public commment on the future of the PUD networks program which includes the fiber/broadband build-out. There were about 40 people in attendance and probably half of those present offered comment- some from the Entiat area and some from Lake Wenatchee area. All spoke strongly in favor of continuing the build out and most encouraging the acceleration of the program. There was not one expression of opposition to the continued build-out.

We asked several times exactly where the Lake Wenatchee/Plain/Chiwawa/Hwy 2 area stands in the build-out schedule. That information was not readily available we were told but the PUD staff is supposed to mail me the schedule as it now stands and I will pass that on once received.

The commissioners will contine to hear briefings and public testimony on other aspects of the PUD operations and then determine what policy will be on the future of fiber, wastewater, etc.
