It should be 15 and older need a license.
How busy do you expect the lake to be on Saturday morning? I was planning to head out and fish from my canoe (and may be interested in the derby) but if the boat traffic is heavy I may pass.
Thanks for the notice of the Fishing Derby. There will be dozens of prizes awarded and a raffle of unclaimed prizes after the event. In the past, more than 80% of participants went home with some kind of a prize. All of the entry fees go to supporting the mission of the Lake Wenatchee Rec Club, a non-profit community service organization.
Also for you “fisherpersons” you may be interested in the wave of sockeye coming. With all the caveats of relying on small sample sizes in data interpretation: the number of sockeye over Bonneville dam so far this year is 3 times the 10 year average and nearly 10 times the fish that had returned at this time last year. Time to start snelling those bare red hooks!!! Follow the fish here: http://www.fpc.org/adultsalmon/AdultCumulativeTable.asp
The LWRC fishing derby was an0ther success. We had 90 anglers participate. The Grand Prize of a fish finder was awarded to Vern English, a LWRC member, who landed a 23 inch, 5 lb. 6 oz. trout. A VERY BIG THANK YOU and shout out to Scott and Nadine at the Cove Resort for all the help they provided this year and in our past years. They donate the Grand Prize each year and this year their total contributions to the event were over $300! These people deserve your patronage and a thank you when you stop in.
