Bears still present on South Shore

by George Wilson on August 20, 2012

I was hoping the bears had moved to higher, cooler elevations to find maturing berries but apparently not all of them have. One was seen tonight on the road at about 15500 Cedar Brae and there was garbage strewn from cans in the same area night before last. One thing they do is carry garbage bags about 15 feet up off the road into the woods to eat it at their leisure so if you’re walking, particularly in hours of darkness, make a lot of noise and keep a light on so they hear and see you coming. Please secure your garbage until the morning of pickup.
