Gary Schuster is building an email list of folks that would like to be involved in helping to organize an informal Fish Lake Ice Skating Club at the Cove at Fish Lake. If you would like to be on the list please send Gary an Email garymschuster@yahoo.com. The Rink is a full regulation size hockey rink. It has undergone 4 major floodings and is now is excellent condition thanks to many of you who have contributed your help
Gary and Zondra have collection of loaner skates at their home on North Shore. The goal is to eventually have a collection of skates in a shed at the rink, see below. If you have old skates you would like to donate please contact Gary and Zondra. In the mean time continue contacting Zondra or Gary at 763-1502 to borrow skates.
Gary is collecting donations to build a shed at the Cove to store skates and other equipment for easy access to all. Plans have been drawn up for the construction of a 8 X 8 shed. A material list is included Est_7412_from_Plain_Hardwar If you are interested in helping out please check the list for material you may have around that you may wish to donate. Also cash donations are being accepted with Dick & Joan Braun being the first to contribute.
The plan so far is to have the rink available to whoever shows up. Yesterday, 3 generations of Passages & Schusters on the ice. It is great to see this kind of family activity. Our first hockey skirmish took place between Schuster & sons, Burg & son, and Vern Christenson. We also had many first time skaters enjoying a beautiful sunny day.
Someone mentioned that ice curling would be a good activity. So if anyone has interest and knows where we can get some stones please speak up.
Again please reply if you have interest in receiving further updates. Also all suggestions would be appreciated.
