Sockeye count at Tumwater dam

Received this yesterday (7-28-08) from Rollie Schmitten:
SOCKEYE UPDATE: As of yesterday (7/28) 19,148 sockeye have passed
Tumwater
Dam. The count per day appears to be dropping. Based on the 10 year
average
run timing about 85% of the current run have passed Tumwater Dam. Expanding
the 19,148 for a 85% run timing [...]

SAVE PLAIN'S HERITAGE TREES

The Chelan County Public Works Department has marked many old growth trees along Beaver Valley Road and the Chumstick Highway for removal.  They are marked with yellow ribbon or white spray paint.
The main concentration of these beautiful trees is from half way up Beaver Hill, through Plain, and ending at the start of Chiwawa Loop [...]

2008 Hiking Report #3

Smith Brook Road is open.
Hiked #1590  Smith Brook to Valhalla last weekend.

  There are sections at the top with snow, easily passable with climbing poles.   Lake is ice free, bugs weren’t too bad.   Shadow and Maggie on the snow above Valhalla

Fish Count > 13,000

Friday Morning Update:  official count now:  13645
