Snow situation- Dec 3, 2007

Good morning-
What a mess!!! As of last night about 6PM we’d gotten about 18 inches
through the day. It snowed heavily overnight bringing another 18.5 inches
since 6PM. My “snow meter” on a stump that comes thorugh our deck “coned
out” at about 20″ so I really don’t have an accurate read on our 24 hour
snowfall but would guess it to have been about 36 inches. The total snowfall
from this system on saturday and Sunday looks to be about 49.25 inches at
our place.

When we got out to start moving snow at 6AM it was raining, still is and
that will continue through the day so this stuff is now very heavy and hard
to move.

US. Highway 2 is closed from Leavenworth to Stevens Pass due to slides and
avalanche danger. The Chumstick highway I understand is not available to
through traffic.

For those that don’t have it- her is a link to a weather forecast pinpointed
to the lake.

Now the concern is perhaps the lake coming up but if the rain eases off
after today and doesn’t get any heavier than it is we should be alright. The
river flow forecast at this time does not show that it will be a problem.
