Sheriff and hatchery meetings…….

Two community meetings were held last night:

The Chelan County Sheriff’s Citizen Advisory Board organized a meeting at the fire station for community input. There were 15-20 people in attendance representing the North Shore, South Shore, Chiwawa Pines and Plain area. Undersheirff Greg Menzer and Chief Criminal Deputy Jeff Middleton represented the Sheriffs Office.

The common concern voiced was a lack of visible police presence in our area; several folks citing too much speed and too little speed enforcement. Contractors, residents, weekenders and vistors all seem to be among the speeders. I would believe that from the response of the officials present that we will be seeing some more speed enforcement in the are so…..

The sheriffs department also encouraged residents to call in their speeding/ and traffic complains to the non-emergency number for Sheriff’s dispatch at 663-9911 and provide as many specifics as you can about offenders, ie vehicle descriptions, license plate numbers, etc. These types of calls are encouraged also because the number of calls are looked at when assigning patrol priorities.

The meeting at the Rec Club concerning the proposed White River and Nason Creek hatcheries drew a larger crowd including county commissioners Keith Goehner and Ron Walter. Most of the panel members there to answer questions were nuts and bolts people, not the ones making policy or pushing the advancement of this project. The significant development of the evening was a decision to form a committee of local people involved who will meet with the policy people guiding the hatchery proposal.

Also- we have an area resident looking to buy a used four-wheeler and a used jet ski. If you have these to sell let me know.
