Highway of Death: Fix it NOW!” Petition
As the 2008 Legislative session speeds toward us, the Coalition needs YOUR help. We need to forge a “Life Line” between the users of U. S. 2 (via our petition) and our State Legislators who hold the state budget’s purse strings, and, subsequently, funding for the desperately-needed safety improvements for U. S. 2.
The Coalition’s “Highway of Death: Fix it NOW!” petition (download here) and its presentation to our 2008 Washington State legislators, will kick off the Coalition’s 2008 legislative effort, which will again include the invaluable help from the Coalition’s lobbyist, Rick Jensen. During her September 11, 2007 visit, Gov. Chris Gregoire provided strong leadership for these safety improvements, and quickly followed up through specific direction to key Washington State Transportation officials. However, for improvements to become a reality, she needs the concurrence and bipartisan help of state legislators. That’s where YOU can help.
If each recipient of this email gathers even TWO signatures on a petition and returns it to us, the numbers will be significant. If each person emails the petition to ten other people asking them to sign the petition and to forward it onto 10 other people, the result will be staggering. Alternatively, you can copy-and-paste or type the petition’s wording/text — see below instructions — into an email, and “sign” it with your name and address, or request others do so.
OUR GOAL IS TO HAVE ALL COMPLETED PETITIONS IN-HAND NO LATER THAN MID-NOVEMBER
IF YOU WANT TO “SIGN” THE PETITION VIA EMAIL, here’s how:
1. Copy or type the petition’s text that appears below into an email.
“I certify that I am at least 16 years of age, I strongly support the language of the “Fix it now” petition of the U. S. 2 Safety Coalition, and urge our local, county, state and federal legislative leaders to save lives by fixing U. S. 2 and making it a budgeting priority.”
2. “Sign” the email with your full name and address (Option; your phone # might be helpful in case we have questions).
3. Email it to the Coalition at safetycoalition@seanet.com
4. If you wish to be added to the Coalition’s electronic email update/distribution list, please include that request in your original email.
5. PRIVACY ADVISEMENT: The Coalition’s policy is NEVER to share private information (name, address, phone, email address, etc.) with anyone without permission. We will also NOT add anyone’s email addresses to our email distribution list unless specifically requested to do so.
